personality test

Got this link from facebook,

http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:

Success in your career is not the most important thing in life. You are content with what you have and think that being with someone you love is more than spending all of your precious time just working.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

grade for essay out!

Following several posts about my academic performance here, and here.

The grade for essay I mentioned last time, finally out!

Again, I got the same grade..haih, no improvement. Anyway, the 3rd best grade according to the uni's grading system, satisfy already.

well, another step closer to get MRes in Disctinction (= first class), :-)

feedback from course tutor, if everything progress well i will be the first master student in the department who obtain disctinction grade..wow....must work hard..

Actually, I am not a "kia su" people. I strongly believe I deserved for the grade obtained, as I have try my best and put so many efforts in whatever tasks I performed. It's essential to ensure that I graduated with a good grade, in order to obtain funding to carry out research in established institution.

Despite so many "good" news, there was another "sia sui" incident happened few months ago. For more infor, visit my chinese blog, as both articles are published on the same time..

cheers

Unfortunately, the colour of the poster uploaded here slightly different with the original published poster.

Impact of RAE 08

My previous post mentioned about the newly released RAE 2008, a research strength indicators among UK Uni. The the journal Research Fortnight has compiled a list of RAE 2008 rankings. The result is showed as follow-

  1. University of Oxford
  2. University of Cambridge
  3. University College London
  4. University of Manchester
  5. University of Edinburgh
  6. Imperial College London
  7. University of Nottingham
  8. University of Leeds
  9. University of Sheffield
  10. University of Bristol
  11. King's College London
  12. University of Birmingham
  13. University of Southampton
  14. University of Glasgow
  15. University of Warwick
  16. Cardiff University
  17. University of Newcastle
  18. University of Liverpool
  19. University of Durham
  20. Queen Mary, University of London

Soon faster the released of RAE 08, Science magazine has published an article about the impact of RAE 08 on research funding. This is because the result will affect the funding allocated to the uni, the "viability" of science departments, job opportunities, etc.

From this article, I also noticed that another new evaluation scheme will come soon--
Research Excellence Framework (REF), most probably in 2014.

"REF will assess research quality using primarily measures such as competitive grants obtained, Ph.D.s granted, and citations received for papers. Many questions remain about whether this approach can truly evaluate research quality across disciplines that include music, midwifery, economics, philosophy, and all the traditional sciences."

The Green League

First started in 2007, environmental information from more than 120 UK Institution were collected and ranked. Glasgow was ranked in 19th (second upper class-description: fair but could do better), a great improvement. In the previous league, it was ranked in 56th (second lower--must try harder)

Well, another project I involve is cultural awareness presentation, so I will give some brief information about my country, and also reason to UK, and why Glasgow, etc. We will take picture and movie then publish to the career blog.

Recently, was invited to share experience as a foreign student, and information will be published on the international student profile page of Uni's main website as well as other media sources..will let you guys know once it is available.

Also, agreed to become an alumni ambassador, will give advice, suggestion to prospective international student in the future..hope i not becomng alumni "embarrass ador" lol..

Other than research activity, it's good for me to get some early exposures in education and academic matters. :-)

Your horoscope for March 2, 2009

Some strong practical energies will be floating about today, cklim, and you may need to get more serious about managing your life. Perhaps your schedule needs some adjusting so that you can take care of all of the tasks you are responsible for. Or maybe you need to look at your financial plan and think about creating a new budget. It's good to face these things squarely and be open to making changes.
