I just received a good news from the university, in which I have obtained the Associate status of the UK Higher Education Academy (AHEA).

I have attended 2 modules for 2 months, and then need to produce an assignment describing my teaching roles. The assignment entitled:‘Learning and teaching at university:
a critical reflection on my role.’
I have discussed three learning outcomes, as follows (extracted from the LTHE assignment guideline, Education Enhancement Unit, Exeter University ):
1)Teach and/or support students’ learning in HE in a variety of ways, showing awareness of relevant educational theory and professional practices.
2)Design, select and use learning resources and ICT to develop an effective learning environment and/or learner support system, with reference to relevant educational theory and professional practice.
3)Engage with self, peer and student evaluation in such a way that you reflect critically and constructively on your practice and professional values, and consider your future professional development needs.
As mentioned in the application form:-
“As a holder of Associate/Fellow status, I commit to maintaining, developing and enhancing my professional knowledge, skills and competence through continuing professional development.”
Also I will maintain the professional values set out by the UK National Standards Framework for teaching in higher education that include:
1. Respect for individual learners
2. Commitment to incorporating the process and outcomes of relevant research, scholarship, and/or professional practice
3. Commitment to development of learning communities
4. Commitment to encouraging participation in higher education, acknowledging diversity and promoting equality of opportunity
5. Commitment to continuing professional development and evaluation of practice
